Ralphie pleads his case before his mother\, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself at Higbee’s Department Store. The consistent response: “You’ll shoot your eye out!” All the elements from the beloved motion picture are brought to our stage. It was written for the stage by area resident and popular playwright\, Philip Grecian. SUMMARY:McCain Performance Series-Flint Hills Children’s Choir Holiday Special
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a festive evening with the Konza and Bluestem Choirs\, with special guests from Bates Dance Studio and Little Apple Aerials. The evening will also feature Manhattan area string players and Grammy-winning vocal soloist Dr. Bryan Pinkall\, Associate Professor of Music at Kansas State University.\nThe mission of the Flint Hills Children’s Choir is to provide excellence in choral music instruction and performance for children and to provide enrichment in the arts for Manhattan and surrounding communities. Based in Manhattan\, Kansas\, the Flint Hills Children’s Choir was founded in 2015 by long-time colleagues and friends\, Janie Brokenicky and Janet Armstead. The first choir\, comprised of 28 5th-9th grade singers\, quickly expanded to two treble-voiced choirs (Bluestem and Konza) spanning grades 3-10. Students in the Choir currently represent the communities of Clay Center\, Manhattan\, Olsburg\, Riley\, St. George\, Wamego\, and Westmoreland. The choir has performed in notable venues such as Carnegie Hall and The Kauffman Center and has appeared with the Wichita Grand Opera\, Wichita Symphony Orchestra\, Six Flags Choral\nMusic Festival\, and traveled to Scotland in the summer of 2022. \nTickets: https://mccain.k-state.edu/tickets/.
