This year is the 30th year Juneteenth has been celebrated in Manhattan, KS.  This year’s event will be a two-day celebration.  Opening Juneteenth on the night of Friday, June 14th in Manhattan’s own JahVelle Rhone & Fly Rythum followed by one of the most sought after musicians and arrangers in the country, saxophonist Donald Hayes.  Saturday night, Amber Flutinastiness Underwood will open three Dove award nominee, NAACP Image Award Nominee, winner of two Stellar Awards, twelve time Grammy nominee, and Grammy award winner for Best Gospel Song in 2011, Kirk Whalum.  In between there will be a 5k run/walk, community unity walk, BBQ & Soul Food cook-off, car wash competition, vendor booths, food trucks and much, much more.  This free, family friendly event is for everyone – tickets are not required.
