Masterworks Chorale 30th Anniversary
612 Poyntz Ave Manhattan
KS
Flint Hills Masterworks Chorale – Manhattan’s community choir – was founded in 1994, and for the first 25 years was sponsored by Manhattan Christian College. Several of the current singers have sung with the choir throughout its history. To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the choir will perform a concert of selections from music it has performed over its history. These will include John Rutter’s Gloria, Fauré’s Requiem, The Road Home by Stephen Paulus, Mozart’s Requiem and Morten Lauridsen’s Sure on this Shining Night. Works not previously performed will be Durante’s Magnificat – formerly attributed to Pergolesi – and a piece written for the choir’s anniversary by Ian Coleman, a former conductor and current head of performing arts at William Jewell College in Liberty MO. There’s something for everyone!
New singers are welcome! Rehearsals start on Tuesday September 3, and the concert will take place at 7pm on Friday December 6 at First Methodist Church on Poyntz Ave in Manhattan. Arianne Thomas will be the conductor. Rehearsals: 7pm-8:30pm in the fellowship hall at First Lutheran Church, 930 Poyntz. Registration will be $55 – scholarships are available. Just ask.
