Program Director / Morning Show Host
News Radio KMAN – Manhattan, Kansas

News Radio KMAN (1350 AM, 93.3 & 93.7 FM), the voice of Manhattan and the Flint Hills, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Program Director who will also serve as Morning Show Host. This is a unique opportunity to lead the sound and vision of one of Kansas’ most respected news/talk/sports stations while also connecting daily with listeners on-air.

Position Overview:
The Program Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of station programming, ensuring that News Radio KMAN continues to serve its community with engaging, timely, and professional local news, talk, and sports coverage. As Morning Show Host, you will be the voice that starts the day for thousands of listeners, delivering news, interviews, and conversation that informs and engages. The position may also include high school play-by-play duties and other local sports coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and schedule all on-air programming and promotions.
  • Lead and mentor on-air staff and board operators.
  • Host and produce the station’s live weekday morning show, delivering compelling and timely content.
  • Collaborate with sales and promotions to create sponsorship opportunities.
  • Represent KMAN at community events, live remotes, and station functions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years radio experience in programming and on-air hosting (news/talk preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of news, current events, and sports, with an emphasis on the local community.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Audio production and digital editing experience.
  • Experience with radio automation software (Wide Orbit preferred).
  • Ability to engage an audience on-air and through digital platforms.
  • Play-by-play broadcasting experience is a plus.

Job Description: Part Time KMAN News Reporter

News Radio KMAN, an equal opportunity employer, is seeking a part-time news reporter for its Manhattan station. This position entails covering news and events in and around Manhattan, Wamego, Junction City, Fort Riley and Kansas State University.

Experience with Adobe Audition and Wide Orbit is a bonus, but not required. We will train the right candidate. Preference will be given to those who show an ability to write in an active-voice, aren’t afraid of a microphone, are self-starters and have an interest in interviewing the residents and newsmakers in our community.  Flexible hours are available. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
