Run for the Roses 5K Run and 1K Walk

Sign up for the first Run for the Roses 5K race and 1K walk sponsored by the K-State Gardens!

Runners will start and finish in the beautiful K-State Gardens, with the race route to also include Memorial Stadium, the Student Union and Anderson Hall on the K-State campus.

The 1K walk will be through the gardens, with docents available to answer questions or provide tours.

Proceeds from the event support various K-State Gardens projects, including the 150th Anniversary of the Gardens in 2025.

Flint Hills Breadbasket Take a Swing at Hunger

The Flint Hills Breadbasket presents the 27th annual “Take a Swing at Hunger,” Monday, May 2, at Colbert Hills.

The golf tournament serves as a major fundraiser for the Breadbasket. It is a four-person scramble with a start time at 1 p.m. Player packages start at $150 per player, which includes golf fees and an awards buffet afterward.

Survivor Art Exhibit: “What Were You Wearing?”

In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April, a Survivor Art Exhibit will run from April 4-15 called “What Were You Wearing?”

This exhibit will contain descriptions of sexual assaults, as well as stories and experiences from survivors. The exhibit will be open from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

Randolph Lions Pancake Feed

The Randolph Lions Pancake Feed will be held at the Blue Valley High School Ag Shop Saturday, April 2nd from 5:00PM-7:30PM.  They will be serving pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and peaches.  There will be a free will offering for community service to include Blue Valley High School Scholarships.

Northern Flint Hills Audubon Society

Dr. Koley Freeman, is an avian biologist who has studied birds from the rainforests in the tropics to the tundra of the artic.  She will be presenting a program, Facing the Storm: A tale of extreme weather and a small grassland songbird.  The program is March 13th beginning at 2:00PM in the Groesbeck Room at the Manhattan Public Library.

Riley County Fish and Game Annual Auction and Feed

Riley County Fish & Game will be holding their annual fundraiser auction and feed on Saturday, March 5th beginning at 5:30PM at Pottorf Hall, CICO Park.  Meal will be served by Ricky’s of Hanover.  Tickets are $15 for age 13 and up; $5.00 ages 6-12 and free for ages 5 and under.  Limited tickets available at the door.   The auction will begin at 6:30PM. Proceeds help to support community events to include Hunter Education Programs, Youth Fishing Clinics, Gun Safety, Landowner Appreciation Program, Planning and Development of Wildlife Habitat and others.

ASE’ Organization 2nd Annual Egg Hunt

Ase’ will be having their annual Egg Hunt at 5th Street Park in Junction City on Saturday, April 16 from 1-6 p.m.

Some activities will include:

  • Egg hunt with thousands of eggs filled with candy
  • Free lunch & water/juice
  • $2 tickets for raffle prizes
  • Live DJ
  • Vendors selling food and crafts
  • Big Lawn Games (sack races, ect)
  • Snack packs
  • Photos with the Bunny

Bring the family out and have a great time! Get the kids candy-filled eggs and mingle with other families while supporting some of our local businesses.

Ase’ is a non-profit. They put on these community events by donation only and are always accepting cash, raffle prizes, cases of water, chips, juice, plastic eggs, and bags of individually wrapped candy, granola bars or snacks.

Chilly Chili Ride

Christian Motorcycle Association and Run for the Son will be hosting a Chilly Chili Ride on Saturday, March 5th at the Cottonwood Shelter, 4435 Pfeil Creek Circle (Tuttle Creek Lake).  Meet at 11:45 for ride, kickstands up at 12:00PM.  Chili and all the fixin’s will be served at 1:00PM.  There will be a “Free Will Offering”.   Proceeds go to the national organizations ministry called Run for the Son.  Questions, contact 785-717-9064.

Boy Scout Troop 223 Chili Feed

Boy  Scout Troop 273 will be holding a Chili Feed Saturday, January 29th from 11:00AM-7:00PM at Pottrof Hall in CICO Park.  The menu will include Chili, both beef and veggie as well as hot dogs, relishes and a drink.  Gumbo will be served again this year as well.  Drive up service available.  We are asking for a $5.00 donation. Manhattan Kiwanis Club Pancake Feed and Silent Auction

Manhattan Kiwanis Club will be hosting their 70th Annual Pancake Feed and Holiday Silent Auction on December 11, 2021 at Pottorf Hall.  They will be serving from 7:00AM until 1:00PM.  Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children ages 5-12, if purchased prior to the event.  Adults will be $7.00 and children $4.00 the day of the event.  Children under 5 eat free.  All proceeds benefit over 20 local community projects.
